Fishing for Fallen
Light – Poetry and Spirituality
September 10-11, 2010
Friday 7:00 pm - Saturday 4:00 pm
“If each day
falls - inside each night - there exists a well - where clarity is
imprisoned.
We need to sit on the rim - of the well of darkness - and fish for fallen
light - with patience.”
In this poem,
Pablo Neruda hints at the connection between poetry and spirituality.
Participants will sit on the rim of their own wells and receive and
celebrate the light of their own spirituality. A variety of poets will allow
us to explore aspects of spirituality related to clarity, meaning and
balance. Participants are invited to bring a copy of their two
favorite poems. Time for reading poetry along with discussion and
silence will be integrated throughout the retreat.

The Compassionate
Heart of Tonglen
January 22, 2011
Saturday 9:30-3:30 pm
The ancient
Tibetan practice of Tonglen meditation directs and strengthens our heart's
capacity to remain compassionately present - even for those things we resist
or don't think we can handle. We learn to develop a heart that is able to
embrace both the suffering of others and the suffering and conflicts that we
feel within ourselves, while enlarging our capacity to integrate, to heal,
and to bless. It is integral to Paul's teaching of conscious loving
presence.

The Awakened
Heart-Living Beyond Addiction
January 29, 2011
Saturday 9:30-3:30 pm
"It is an
addiction of the first order that we feel we must always be filling up our
spaces," writes Gerald May. Addiction goes deeper than attachment to
substances. In our desire for love, meaning, even the sacred, we are
"always…filling up our spaces" only to feel empty. How do we free ourselves
to be present to the love that is always available to us? As we explore
these ideas, we will practice some of the exercises offered in The Awakened
Heart: Living Beyond Addiction. Prior knowledge of the book is not
necessary.

Befriending Our Losses
March 19, 2011
Saturday 9:30-3:30 pm
Judith Viorst
writes of "Necessary Losses" in life, and that we have the power to choose
how we meet them. In contrast to a world that often asks us to deny the
darker emotions in our lives, such as grief, fear, anger and despair, we
will explore ways in which to befriend and even to surrender to them as our
teachers. Mindfulness and meditation exercises, along with centering prayer,
all offered in a quiet and supportive setting, will help us to gain inner
peace.

Thursday 5:30pm - Sunday 11:00am
Many scientists
and spiritual leaders agree today that we are moving from a materialistic,
rational view of reality to a fuller experience of the spiritual realm. We
are acquiring a broader ability to see and experience a movement into deeper
dimensions of the spiritual life.
Come join us on retreat as we explore more fully the transformation that
occurs when we move from having a vision to working with a vision. All this
we will do through the soul's language of art. Materials included.
Thursday evening's presentation will
be an overview of how art is created when it is our intention is to be
present to Mystery as we move into a new dimension. We will also witness how
Mystery has provided us with art that speaks a language that is amazingly
familiar and also enigmatic.
